Illustration Submission Guidelines

Content type

We currently only accept vectorized SVG files. We’re not able to accept .eps, .ai, .pdf or any raster file types.

Formatting

All strokes must be outlined. Images with non-outlined strokes will be rejected.

We do not accept files which have embed raster objects.

  • Avoid any complex gradients (non-linear or free-form).

  • Illustrations must not contain any "layer effects” or “layer styles”.

  • Ensure all pattern swatches are expanded and removed.

File size requirements

Maximum file size: 50MB

Minimum Art-board Size: Shortest edge should be no smaller than 1500px

Permissions

You must be the original creator of and own the rights to any image you share on Unsplash, which includes the usage of assets such as brushes, textures and other elements which you did not personally create.

You are responsible for the content which you upload. Be mindful of copyright and IP issues. You can read more about this in our Terms.

Illustrations do not contain borders or watermarks.

Illustrations do not contain inappropriate content.

We do not accept content generated by AI, or where AI was involved in it's creation.

Illustrations are not duplicates of existing content that you have submitted to Unsplash.

Photo Submission Guidelines

Content type

We currently only accept original photos, 3d renders.

We do not accept screenshots, in-game captures, composite art or content created by AI generative models.

Photos meet the minimum size requirement of 5 megapixels.

For a standard landscape orientation photo, 5 megapixels is at least 2500 by 2000 pixels in size.

We don’t accept photos that are over-edited, unclear or contain excess spotting (marks made by water or dirt on the lens at the time the photo was taken).

Permissions

You must be the original photographer of and own the rights to any photo.

Some things to consider

  • Photos containing celebrities, performers and sports persons typically have additional privacy rights or corporate sponsorships that prohibit any person or company to profit from their image.

  • Architecture, galleries and museums often have policies that cover how images may be used. Please do your own research to ensure you have relevant permissions for both personal and commercial uses.

  • Respect peoples right to privacy and respect the vunerable.

  • Please do not upload photos of straight-on artwork or graffiti.

Photos do not have borders, graphics, text or watermarks overlaid on them. Avoid adding these elements in post-production.

Photos are not duplicates of existing content that you have submitted to Unsplash.

Please note, we do accept both a color and a black and white version of the same image.

Photos do not contain nudity or violence.
